Spay/Neuter Program

Each year in Manatee County thousands of healthy animals are euthanized (put to sleep) due to overpopulation. As a result, the Humane Society of Manatee County spends a great deal of its funds to provide low cost spaying and neutering of animals to prevent unwanted litters of kittens and puppies. Many local veterinarians participate in the Prevent A Litter (PAL) program, which assists residents who may otherwise have difficulty affording the cost of the spaying or neutering.

The Humane Society offers these certificates for sale during our hours of operation each and every day that we are open.

People wishing to purchase these certificates should come into the shelter and fill out an application. We accept cash or checks.

The Humane Society of Manatee County is a registered, private non-profit 501(c) (3) organization and we provide services with the funding we generate through our adoption program, donations and bequeaths, memberships, and fundraising. All gifts are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law. We are not funded by any government agency, the United Way, or any National Animal organization. The Humane Society of Manatee County operates a "no-kill shelter."

Our mission is to promote the welfare of animals in and about Manatee County. The organization will encourage kindness and provide shelter, sustenance, and medical treatment to animals in need.

Furthermore, this organization and its members, volunteers, staff, and executive officers will maintain and operate a shelter for the benefit of animals in need, without making profit there from.
