The Professional Pet Sitter When you own pets and must travel or go on vacation it is difficult to know what to do with them. A few years ago your options were rather limited. You could either put the pets in a kennel or have a friend or family member care for them. Now there are many options available: there are kennels, friends/family, pet motels, pet friendly resorts and pet sitters. The sitter will bring in mail and newspapers, water plants, open and close blinds, and turn lights on and off. The presence of a car in the driveway may also make others believe that someone is at home. By providing these services, along with the animal’s presence in the home, it may help to increase the security of your home. Most of today’s professional pet sitters carry bonding and insurance. The security bond and insurance protect the client and sitter. If anything should happen to any of your property during your absence you will have a way to collect damages. Most pet sitters don’t ever use the bond or insurance and are very careful of their clients’ property, but it is nice to know it is there should anything happen. The options for leaving your pet when you must travel have changed over the past few years.
